Slide Masters - Harry Manx

I first heard Harry Manx play only a few months ago but I'm a great fan ever since.

Actually he was recently hosted along with two other distinguished gentlemen in another slidedaddy blog titled Slide 'n' harp.

Harry Manx is a European born bluesman who's now an islander Canadian but has spent 10 years in Japan and another 5 in India studying under the guidance and performing with some guy named Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. So from this short bio you can tell he's all about world music fusion. But he does it so masterfully!

This sample should best illustrate my point:

Apart from his beautiful blending of East and West, one distinguishable thing about Harry is his gear. He often plays this hybrid lap guitar - Sitar instrument which he had custom made to suit his personal style. In another gig he will play Voodoo Chile on a banjo (actually a banjitar or six string banjo). Generally though he's a lap guitar / bar player.

I'll leave you with a nice quote from Harry Manx's bio:

His songs are short stories that use the essence of the blues and the depth of Indian ragas to draw you in.

Kudos,
